How to choose the right gift for her

Before we start, there are a couple of things that you should bear in mind: don't be tempted by something you like (whether we're talking saucy red lingerie or a fab new gadget) - you are buying a gift for her, not yourself! And secondly, don't leave it until the last minute and then panic buy. Spend some time and effort and you will surely be rewarded...

1. Consider her interests: what does she enjoy doing? (cooking, clubbing, reading) How does she spend her free time? (indoors, outdoors, in a pub, at the gym) What's important to her? (how she looks, the environment, her home). Now any one of these might suggest the perfect gift for her, maybe a book, or a CD, some jewellery or something for her home. If you've just had a great gift idea for her then you can stop reading now, you lucky man.

 2. Okay, maybe you already know what gift you want to buy (lingerie, a cool bag, some jewellery, clothes) but you don't know how to go about choosing the right style. You need to ask more questions: what colours does she wear? How would you describe her style? No point in buying a floaty dress for a fan of casual, or a smart leather bag for a girl who likes funky prints. Observe the sort of bags she uses and jewellery she wears in the next couple of weeks and maybe spend a little time flicking through one of her magazines to see what's popular at the moment.
